Tutorials help. After you harvest the wheat you then use the cultivator to prepare the soil again, then you use the seeder to plant more seeds, then you can fertilize if you have the money and purchase the equipment to increase you yeild (this is optional), then you wait for it grow then harvest and repeat. Doesn't take long to get use to it. I am also new to Farming Simulator and am having a blast with it. While I wait for my fields to grow I am running missions from the bulletin board. I also purchased a power washer to clean my equipment:) I havn't looked into the logging yet or the other other crops.
Just doing wheat and canola at the moment. If you want to log, or just make some quick money, sell all your equipment after harvesting the field and selling all your grains.
Buy the logging skidder and tram it over to the logging mill, cut down tress with it, or a chain saw and unload them at the pond or train. Plenty of trees around the logging mill/pond/train areas. The skidder can cut the tall trees that don't have branch off shoots, but its really good at pushing any tree around. If you want to farm and log, keep you equipment and buy a chainsaw with a front loader tractor/tree grabber, or just grab the little red logging trailer with a crane on it and use that.
Tram the front loader to the mill and use the chainsaw to cut them down and into smaller peices, then put them into the selling area. If you only want to farm then, Canola sells for higher prices most of the time but has the least yield, barley is between wheat and canola in yield/price and wheat is a low price but large yield. Potatos are a PITA and sugar beats aren't much better, best to buy the fancy harvester to work either crop. The buffalo is better at loading cut trees from the skidder or cut by hand. The large front loader can grab multiple trees at once but has a harder time with the large logging trailer.
The telescopic loader can load any trailer with easy. The wood chipper is more trouble than its worth IMO.
